The ability to absorb shocks, however, must be correctly dimensioned if the floor is laid as protection of an existing floor. A few millimeters of rubber cannot wholly absorb every type of impact. The force resulting from the fall of a barbell loaded with dozens of kg is always partly transferred to the floor underneath.

As far as cleaning is concerned, it is sufficient to vacuum and then wash the floor with water and detergent in minimum quantities. Deposits or white marks may occur due to the close presence of dusty areas. In these cases, scrubbing brushes with built-in sponge are useful. EcoGym is a flooring produced by agglomerating recycled rubber granules. The main characteristic of this type of flooring is its ability to cushion the fall of free weights like barbells, kettlebells, and dumbbells. The Premium version of EcoGym features white speckling, enhancing the surface aesthetics and making it less prone to footprints, dust, and cleaning difficulties—common issues in monochrome black recycled rubber granule tiles.

Recycled Rubber Granules

The shock absorption capacity, excellent comfort during floor exercises, and excellent grip even with sweat on the floor are direct results of the ultra-fine granular composition. Using recycled rubber not only represents a virtuous reuse of used material but also positively impacts production costs. It is important to note that the shock absorption capacity must be adequately considered when the flooring is used as a protection for an existing floor. A few millimeters of rubber cannot completely absorb every type of impact. The force from the fall of a barbell loaded with dozens of kg will always be partially transferred to the underlying floor.

Double Layer: Fine Granules on Top, Coarse Granules on Bottom

The combination of a layer made of coarse granule aggregates with a layer of finer granules allows for the maximum shock absorption capacity while providing a smooth, compact surface that is less prone to crumbling and dirt accumulation.

White Speckling and Puzzle Interlock

Anyone who has trained on flooring made from recycled rubber granules will have noticed that despite the numerous qualities just described, this solution presents two very evident limitations:

  1. Monochrome black tiles are prone to footprints, accumulate dust, and are difficult to clean.
  2. Recycled rubber granules are subject to high thermal deformation. Temperature variations can cause gaps between the tiles and lead to their displacement.

To counter these limitations, EcoGym Premium features white speckling and puzzle interlocking. The white speckling makes the surface less prone to footprints and unsightly dust, as well as increasing the brightness of the area. The puzzle interlock limits the formation of gaps due to the thermal deformation of recycled rubber and eliminates tile displacement caused by user activity, especially when tiles are laid as islands, i.e., not against walls.

]]> The fire prevention engineer, when planning a project or renewing the fire prevention certificate, may consider it indispensable, especially for the escape ways of gyms or sports centers, to lay tiles characterized by a higher fire reaction class than the more common rubber flooring.

Ecofit Rubber Floor B, Code 9193, was created to meet this type of requirement, being in fact in class B for reaction to fire. Compared to the 9191 Ecofit Rubber Floor, this class B version is slightly more compact, resulting in a slightly shiny effect.

The flooring, which does not absorb water and sweat, is suitable for intensive use, for areas with isotonic and cardio machines, but also for areas where free weights are used: dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, although in this case, it cannot have the characteristics of resistance to tearing and incisions, of the recycled rubber granule flooring, codes 9201P, 9202P. However, the type of rubber and the dotted pattern allow these self-laying interlocking tiles to well cope with the weight impact.

The wide variety of colours, with black-white or yellow dots, allows easy matching with areas made of other rubber sports flooring.

Ecofit Rubber Floor B, Code 9193, contains no toxic substances and does not contain PVC, plasticisers, formaldehyde, asbestos, cadmium, CFCs.

It is a flooring suitable for excessive use, for areas where isotonic and cardio machines are placed, but especially ideal for areas where free weights are used and dropped: dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells. It does not feature the tear resistance characteristics of other recycled floorings of our catalog, Code 9201, 9202. Still, the type of rubber (and its cushioning property) combined with the dotted design allow these tiles to withstand the impact of the weights easily.
