Shoe soles are the enemy of mats, especially when performing exercises that require high grip and thus high friction and abrasion. Recommended models for this kind of situation, which will always result in a high degree of wear, are mats cod. 3024, cod.3025, cod. 0400, cod. 0400/1, cod. 0401. Not recommended are cod. 3016, specifically for use without shoes, cod. 0407. Mats cod. 0403 cod. 0403/1 are short models, created so that the shoes remain outside. So you should try to avoid, as much as possible, contact between mat and shoes to limit wear and tear. All mats are produced through polymers in the rubbery state. Elasticity and softness characterize the different models in various ways, hence the comfort to pleasantness to the touch. The soles of sports shoes are also made through rubbery materials but, due to their function; sports on concrete, asphalt, wood, etc., adopt much harder and abrasive materials. Materials, solutions and thicknesses, unsuitable for making mats. Therefore, shoe soles are inevitably the enemy of mats, especially when performing exercises that result in high grip and thus high rubbing. Mountain climbing-type exercises, for example, will immediately ruin any mat if one does not take care to keep the feet off the tool. It is not a matter of quality, and it is not even a matter of time, but mainly a matter of materials and the way you use them. Any model of mat will exhibit breakage and premature wear and tear if used with footwear and improperly.

What is our body used for? The answer is easy: to move from one chair to another… Think about it; the chair is a symbol of our time because most of our activities are carried out while sitting and this is why we often talk about posture, metabolic problems and much pain; muscular, articular, cervical, caused by sitting and loss of motor activity. But what is the correct posture? Even easier answer: there isn’t one. There is no such thing as a fixed, correct posture that can make us sit well for hours, especially in a traditional chair. The traditional chair in fact tends to deform the physiological curves of the spinal column, but above all, because of the way it is constructed (backrest, armrests, rigid seat surface, etc.) it leads to prolonged fixation. Sitting for hours in the same position, even if theoretically correct, is the worst thing. Our body is made to move; the intervertebral discs, the stabilising muscles and each of our organs, do not function properly if deprived of movement. Movement implies the activation of all vital functions: cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, muscular, etc. Therefore, if one is obliged to sit, the correct way is to sit actively and dynamically, i.e. a sitting in which one can move and choose to change position, even do some small exercises, thus developing the broadest awareness of one’s body.

The Active Sitting Ball is an effective solution for active and dynamic sitting. In fact, the Gym Ball forces continuous adaptations and thus obliges the activation of all postural muscles, allowing, in addition, the unloading of vertebral compressions and the restoration of the physiological curves of the rachis. In particular, the possibility of moving the pelvis stimulates the natural lumbar lordosis, helping to avoid assuming the negative and widespread, C-shaped, closed and forward position.

Sitting on a ball is certainly fun and an environment characterised by the presence of active seating intrigues and stimulates customers simply because the propensity to learn and try out motor gestures, from the simplest to the most complex, is innate in human nature. An office, a meeting room, a hotel room, a waiting area, where, instead of normal seating, we find Active Sitting Balls expresses, in terms of design, a precise intention: well-being through movement.

The Active Sitting Ball is also a real piece of equipment, a gym ball, which can be used to perform numerous exercises, starting with so-called office exercises, which are useful to compensate for the closed, forward posture, typical of working at a PC.

Active sitting means sitting that promotes changes in posture but awareness is required.

In addition to the pros of a session that promotes changes in posture, some cons should also be analysed.

As is the case with any type of sitting, bad postural habits can also occur on the ball. Of these, sitting in one position, thus avoiding applying the principle of movement to sitting, is certainly the worst. Assuming a C-shaped, closed and forward posture, forgetting to move the pelvis by stimulating the natural lobar lordosis is the second and most common bad habit.
The ball is highly unstable and the danger of falling is greater than with a normal chair.
Active sitting is obviously more tiring, especially for sedentary people. This is why it is necessary to proceed with a very progressive use of the Active Sitting Ball , so that the muscles, buttocks and trunk in primis, adapt to the movement and the new workload. One hour a day, in increments of thirty minutes each week, can be considered an example of progressive use.
The Active Sitting Ball is not included in the Consolidation Act on Health and Safety in the Workplace. In fact, Legislative Decree 81/08 is inspired by an idea of seating that we could almost say is contrary to that of the Active Sitting Ball. The working seat, we read in fact, must be stable and the backrest must provide adequate support to the user’s back-lumbar region. It is the idea of a body to be supported and set correctly, as if there were a correct posture in sitting and as if fixity and lack of movement were not one of the main problems for people’s health.

Same material, texture, and 6 mm thickness as the Pilates mats, it is a multipurpose mat generically suitable for all kinds of activities, yoga, free body exercises, and also as protection of fitness areas or placement of cardio-fitness equipment, e.g., bikes.

The mat stretches and rolls easily and does not tend to curl, adhering well to the floor.

The Yoga/Pilates Mat 3025 is characterized by its size, 1×2 m, which is significantly larger than a standard fitness mat.

It is made of PVC, the same material, texture, and 6 mm thickness, as Pilates Mat 3024, standard size 173 x 61 cm, while appearing soft and comfortable to the touch, it is durable and not very deformable.

Because of the large size, it can be generically suitable for all kinds of activities and can also be adopted as a protective base where to place equipment dedicated to fitness; equipment to be used free-body, but also cardio-fitness equipment, such as bikes for example.
